Rumer Willis’ Chin – Bad Gene?

There's no doubt about it, Rumer Willis is an all-out dazzler.

At the recent Power of Paws launch party, Rumer was decked in a strappy black dress that left little to the imagination and showed off her dewy complexion beautifully. While the yellow pumps she had on might have added a bit of unconventionality to her look, it was her resemblance to her parents that made excuses for her.

Rumer is her mother's child all right. With Demi Moore's eyes and complexion, the features from daddy Bruce Willis' side of the family tree are almost overshadowed. Sadly, there is only so much you can do to hide a prominent chin though.

One of the things Rumer has inherited from her pa is her broad and jutting chin.

Speculations about a chin reduction and jaw realignment surgery abound, but I doubt Rumer has had any cosmetic surgery work. One of the benefits of a chin surgery is that it can enhance the appearance of a prominent chin very well.

While you cannot draw the focus from the chin, it can be made to subtly blend with the rest of the facial features via a chin implant or a chin reduction surgery.

At the Plastic Surgery Institute of California, we perform both these procedures along with corrective chin surgery. Visit us to know how you can improve your chin.

Of Titanium, Boxers & Chin Surgery

A friend of mine recently announced his intentions of enrolling for kick boxing classes and all I could think of was the punches and black eyes that (I feel) are so common to this sport.

Apart from my unfamiliarity with the sport, I do know that boxing is a pretty rough activity and that both professional and amateur boxers more often than not, have to take a punch to the face. The good thing is that there is always reconstructive surgery or cosmetic surgery to repair most of the damage.

I dug a little further and came across a professional boxer who took a punch to her chin and suffered a split jaw for it. (Note: Link contains gory pictures)

Kim Couture is as gutsy as they come and fits the gorgeous sportswoman image to the tee.

Kim recently suffered an injury to her jaw during her MMA pro debut spar with her opponent Kim Rose and had to have a chin surgery fix her jaw. The surgery was more corrective than cosmetic and required Kim to be fitted with a titanium plate held together by screws.

Titanium is the favored material for chin implant surgery or a corrective chin surgery procedure and is approved by the FDA. With this surgery, Kim ought to be able to return to the boxing ring within a period of 6 weeks- something she is really looking forward to.

Whether it is a rough sport like boxing or a primarily cosmetic procedure like chin enhancement surgery, think twice before you make a decision that will alter your physical appearance in any way. Visit the Plastic Surgery Institute of California for further details.

Joan Collins – The Beauty With The Double Chin

Joan Collins once famously claimed that lipstick was her shield against aging.

One of the original doyennes of the glamour business Joan Collins, all of 75 looks not a day over 40 with her iridescent complexion and sparkling eyes. But this is the picture from afar; up close you notice the little tell-tale wrinkles and sagging skin.

Rumors about a face lift fly every now and then, but Joan has never come out front on any confirmations. In one statement Joan mentions, "I don't want to keep having my face pulled and poked and Botoxed until I don't look like myself, but a caricature."

She goes on to add that she would have a
chin surgery and make an allowance to her statement only when she gets double chins. Chances are she has neatly avoided a double chin by already getting a chin enhancement.

There is no way this accomplished actress and mother of three has not had some plastic surgery help. Currently married to her fifth husband who is years younger than she is, Joan Collins cannot hide her obvious varicose veins and sagging lower neck skin.

Strangely enough, her appearance from the neck area upwards gleams of freshness and youth giving the impression of a lot of tastefully executed cosmetic surgery.

While it may be difficult for those in the spotlight to come right out and admit to their cosmetic surgery, there is really no need to hide it. The Plastic Surgery Institute of California offers some great chin surgery packages for men and women in their 70's, specially customized to suit the skin texture particular to this age.

BDD & Chin Surgery – Bad Combination

BDD is short for body dysmorphic disorder, a condition that makes a person feel insecure about their body and perceive it to have an excess of flaws. A primarily mental condition, BDD is usually found to affect anyone in their teens or above.

A clinic in Victoria, Australia discovered at least 15 percent of patients suffering from this disorder visit plastic surgeons in the hopes of finding an antidote to their 'flaws'. Many of them are quite blessed in the beauty department, but the nature of the disorder is such that they will not rest until they have cosmetic surgery.

Facial surgery procedures, such as chin enhancement, cheek implants, etc. are more common among this group of people.

Chin surgery doctors need to screen a patient before consenting to perform a chin implant or an enhancement on them. As it is one of the focal points of the face, repeated chin surgery procedures demanded by a BDD patient will result in a weak and shapeless chin.

If you have a good chin reduction or enhancement specialist taking care of the operation process, chances are he will screen you out for any disorders or health problems before agreeing to perform the surgery. It is always advisable to reserve your discretion though.

Visit the Plastic Surgery Institute of California for a thorough chin surgery consultation before an operation.

Know About: The Super Sutures That Keep Your Chin Safe

There is still such a lot of hue and cry on and about methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus (MRSA) bacteria. The health departments in both the U.S. and the UK (especially) are under severe scrutiny where safety standards are concerned, all for limiting the spread of infections caused by these bacteria.

The MRSA bacterium occurs not only in plastic surgery but also other surgery cases. The worst thing about it is that it's resistant to antibiotics, a situation that has resulted in quite a number of infections and some deaths.

At least 60 percent of surgical site infections are believed to occur at the incision itself and all precautions have to be followed to prevent an onset of staph. One of the best precautions available to safeguard chin enhancement or chin implant patients from an MRSA infection is the Antibacterial Sutures developed by Ethicon, a division of Johnson & Johnson Ltd.

These sutures are considered a breakthrough in wound closure technology and are able to effectively exterminate bacteria and stall bacterial colonization of the suture.

If chin surgery specialists follow additional infection-preventives like maintaining hygiene and sterilization procedures, maintaining the body temperature of the patient and the supply of oxygen, etc. these sutures can prove to be very helpful.

At the Plastic Surgery Institute of California we employ the best practices and procedures during a chin enhancement procedure. Advanced technology and equipment like the Antibacterial Sutures are just one of the safety measures against staph we employ.

General Anesthesia & Pronounced Post-Chin Surgery Pain

For most people a chin surgery means a minor cosmetic operation and treat it as just so.

While this might hold true for basic chin enhancement work, a more complicated procedure like chin reduction or chin implant surgery to adjust the contours of a chin, involves more complex work.

Towards this end, plastic surgeons plan out the procedure and advice the patient on pre and post-surgery care. One of the components of a chin surgery- anesthesia administration, call for acquainting the candidate about the effects and requirements of the step.

While local anesthesia is common for outpatient procedures that are basic, general anesthesia is preferred for inpatient treatments or combination chin enhancement procedures.

A recent study published in the Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences found that the drugs used for general anesthesia could prove to amplify post-surgery pain after the patient awakes. The research was conducted on mice and brings to light the different nuances and effects of anesthesia administration.

At the Plastic Surgery Institute of California we suggest a patient is to inform the cosmetic surgeon about any family history of anesthesia tolerance. Surgery of any kind involves risks and at our advanced surgical institute we work our best to reduce this risk.

American Health Care Good Enough For A Chin Enhancement?

American economist Ben Bernanke believes that there is a very noticeable gap between the quality of health services that should be and can be provided and the quality that are actually provided to the American public.

In a recent Senate committee hearing on health reform Bernanke presented his views which hold the US health care system in a sorry light. As a branch of medicine, plastic surgery too comes under the broad umbrella of health care and services.

By default this field too is in imperative need of being granted equal attention for reform.

The newsflashes that mar the image of cosmetic surgery and as a result chin surgery, all too frequently seem to highlight Bernanke's views. He adds, "Inconsistent use of best practices by doctors and hospitals is also surprisingly widespread".

It maybe time for a redressal of plastic surgery procedures and practices, making a chin enhancement surgery all the more beneficial for the patient. Offered at almost every plastic surgery clinic and practice, cosmetic chin surgery is generally performed on an outpatient basis.

Checking the surgical facility for an AAAHC certification and accreditation by a board like the ASPS can be a solid step in ensuring that the US health care system works towards you.

One surgical facility that meets all these requirements is the renowned chin enhancement surgical facility, the Plastic Surgery Institute of California.
